Abdi also highlighted that this new entity would bring significant changes and require new governance structures across the multiple districts, cities, and provinces where PTPN operates. Socialization efforts with local governments will be essential to foster inter-regional synergy.

Rahman Hadi fully supported the transformation by emphasizing the as the Enterprises, PTPN would have the strategic function and work to support energy and food security namely in palm oil sector. “We fully support the transformation because PTPN gets the mandate from the country and this would be the same with the president’s instruction to reinforce food and energy security,” he said.

Back to Abdi, he also said that palm oil sectors would play significant roles in food and energy security through its downstream products, such as, palm cooking oil, cosmetics, biofuel, biomass, biogas, and others. Indonesia launched biodiesel mandatory program which should be mixed with diesel. It is now in b35 and would be B50 and so on. In the future, palm oil as the material to the program would be reaching B100.

“Riau has the big potential in this sector and by the transformation to be PalmCo, we hoped to get economic advantages and develop palm oil industries more equal in many regions. Do not let that Riau as the main palm oil producer in Indonesia not get the positive impacts maximally,” Abdi said. (P2)
