PALMOILMAGAZINE, JAKARTA – Several independent smallholder groups from the districts of Indragiri Hulu and Indragiri Hilir, including Karya Serumpun, Tunas Karna Mandiri, and ASAGRI, actively participated in the Smallholder Linking and Learning event organized by the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) at Century Park Sudirman in Jakarta.
Their involvement, facilitated by Widya Erti Indonesia and Unilever, underscores their dedication to adopting sustainable agricultural practices.
Independent smallholders from diverse countries such as Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Colombia, Ghana, and India also attended the event. The primary objective was to provide a platform for sharing experiences and collective learning to enhance sustainable palm oil practices.

Juliono, the Chairman of Karya Serumpun, shared the group’s journey towards entrepreneurial success, particularly in strengthening female groups. He expressed hope that Karya Serumpun’s achievements in fund management could serve as inspiration for others to adopt similar strategies or even surpass them.
As in the official statement to Palmoilmagazine.com recently, Chairman of Tunas Karya Mandiri, Sumantono told that having discussion with many smallholders from many countries delivered many perspective. The discussion helped him and the cooperation to get more understanding about the challenges to face, awareness that RSPO certificate is very important.
Muhaimin, Chairman of ASAGRI appreciated for having the chance to share and get valuable experiences. They never thought that as smallholders, they would join the such event and get experiences. Muhaimin thanked Widya Erti Indonesia and Unilever for having the most valuable opportunity.

Smallholder Linking and Learning RSPO was as the important event for independent smallholders to get more network, share best practices and face the challenges together about sustainable palm oil practices. The involvement of Indonesia’s independent smallholders could reinforce collaboration among them and support transformation heading to more sustainable palm oil practices in the future.
