Expansion of Smallholders Replanting Program Implemented by PTPN V to be Implemented Nationwide

PALMOILMAGAZINE, PEKANBARU – The smallholders replanting program (SRP) implemented by PT Perkebunan Nusantara (PTPN) V in Riau Province has achieved remarkable success. As a result, it is now being considered for nationwide implementation as part of a larger national strategic program.

Arifin Firdaus, the Director of Institution at Holding Perkebunan Nusantara, stated that PTPN V, as a subsidiary of the holding company, has made significant progress in developing smallholders within its jurisdiction.

“What PTPN V did, Insya Allah would be running nationally to get the government’s target, to accelerate SRP which is categorized as national strategic program,” he said in District of Siak, Riau Province, as Palmoilmagazine.com quoted from the official page of the company, Wednesday (21/6/2023).

The partneship was successful in six koperasi unit desa (KUD) in District of Siak and in the first harvest. The six KUD that join plasma program were, Tunas Muda that laid about 250 hectares, Tandan Mas Jaya about 216 hectares, Budi Sawit about 90 hectares, and Lembah Sawit about 160 hectares in District of Siak, and two KUD in District of Kampar, such as, Gemah Ripah about 703 hectares and Subur Makmur about 454 hectares.

The first harvest in SRP about 1.873 hectares was attended by Regional Secretary of Siak, Arfan Usman; Director of PTPN V Jatmiko Santosa; Chairman of Asosiasi Petani Kelapa Sawit Perkebunan Inti Rakyat (Aspekpir), Setiyono; and the representatives of six KUD, and the participants.

Arifin also appreciated kinds of strategy and approach by PTPN V, including the best agriculture practice and productivity guarantee to the smallholders as SRP participants. The immature palm oil trees of the smallholders grow well and cut off the harvest time to be 30 months from the common within three to four years. The young trees are more productive 50 percent than the same condition.

Regional Sectary of Siak, Arfan Usman said that the local government fully encourage SRP by PTPN V. he thought, SRP by PTPN V successfully proved to increase the plasma smalholders’ plantation productivity in Siak and should escalate their economy.

“The good will of PTPN V should be fully supported. The first harvest is the real evidence. That is why I suggest you, dear sirs in partners, take your brothers to be in partnership with PTPN V. Take a look, this first harvest,” he said.

Chief Executive Officer PTPN V, Jatmiko Santosa was happy and smiling to witness the representatives of the smallholders that join SRP. He said every effort of PTPN V workers involved in the program to six KUD, has gone when seeing their plantations got SRP in November 2020 now grows fertile.

He also said, the main recipe of smallholders’ palm oil plantations to grow fertile and harvest sooner within increasing productivity is the cultivation technic according to the high standards of the company, starting from the planting of superior seeds, fertilization, nursery, and treatment standards of PTPN V.
