PALMOILMAGAZINE, NORTH ACEH — The Palm Oil Farmers Union (Serikat Petani Kelapa Sawit / SPKS) has distributed humanitarian assistance to oil palm smallholders and residents impacted by severe flooding in North Aceh Regency. The aid was collected through a solidarity-driven fundraising effort involving SPKS members from various regions across Indonesia.
SPKS Chairman Sabarudin emphasized that the initiative reflects the strong sense of unity among palm oil farmers when facing natural disasters that disrupt their livelihoods.
“The floods in North Aceh have damaged homes and plantations, and severely disrupted farmers’ economic activities. Through this assistance, we hope to ease the burden on our brothers and sisters in North Aceh,” he said in a statement to Palmoilmagazine.com on Friday (12/12).
The aid package includes basic food supplies, clean water, rice, instant noodles, and other essential emergency items. SPKS teams went directly to several affected villages to deliver the aid and coordinated with local village authorities to ensure proper and targeted distribution.
A representative of SPKS North Aceh expressed appreciation for the support shown by palm oil farmers from different regions. “This solidarity proves that palm oil farmers do not work only for their own welfare but also support each other in times of crisis,” the representative said.
SPKS encouraged all stakeholders—government agencies, companies, and the wider public—to continue strengthening assistance for residents who still require support during the recovery period. (P3)
