Malaysian palm oil futures fell for a third straight session on Tuesday, with the December contract pressured by weaker rival vegetable oils and expectations of higher Malaysian palm oil inventories as September exports are forecast to decline.
PALMOILMAGAZINE, JAKARTA — Malaysian crude palm oil (CPO) futures extended their decline on Tuesday (Sept. 29, 2026), with the benchmark December contract falling to its lowest level in eight weeks as weaker competing vegetable oils and expectations of rising Malaysian inventories weighed on sentiment.
According to Reuters, the December 2026 CPO contract on Bursa Malaysia Derivatives fell RM35 per metric ton, or about 0.75%, to RM4,629 per ton by the midday trading break. Based on the exchange rate cited in the report, the price was equivalent to approximately US$1,134.56 per ton.

The decline marked the third consecutive session of losses and came as the market assessed prospects for higher Malaysian palm oil stocks in September. Palm oil production has remained relatively strong, while exports are expected to weaken during the month.
Malaysian September Exports Seen Declining
Cargo surveyors Intertek Testing Services and AmSpec Agri Malaysia estimated that Malaysian palm oil product exports during Sept. 1–25, 2026, fell by around 15.1%–24.3% from the corresponding period in August.
The expected decline in exports has become an important market factor as Malaysian palm oil supplies remain relatively ample.

Malaysian palm oil inventories had already risen to an eight-month high at the end of August. With production remaining firm and exports slowing, traders are assessing the possibility of further stock accumulation in September.
Rising inventories can weigh on prices when supply growth outpaces demand, adding to the bearish pressure on the futures market.
Rival Vegetable Oils Add Pressure
The CPO market was also influenced by movements in competing vegetable oils.
The most-active soybean oil contract on the Dalian Commodity Exchange fell 0.23%, while the Dalian palm oil contract declined 1.04%.

In contrast, soybean oil futures on the Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) rose 0.72%.
The mixed performance across major vegetable-oil markets reflects differing supply and demand expectations, with traders continuing to monitor production, exports and inventory developments.
KPBN CPO Price Falls IDR25/kg
In Indonesia’s domestic market, the CPO price at PT Kharisma Pemasaran Bersama Nusantara (KPBN) was set at IDR15,050/kg on Tuesday (Sept. 29).
The price declined IDR25/kg, or approximately 0.17%, from IDR15,075/kg on Monday (Sept. 28).
