PALMOILMAGAZINE, BOGOR – Minister of Environment and Forestry, Raja Juli Antoni, held three key meetings in Rumpin, Bogor Regency, West Java, following his visit to Persemaian Modern Rumpin, a major nursery center that plays a vital role in the Ministry of Environment and Forestry’s (MEF) reforestation efforts and seed distribution programs for local farmers.
“After inspecting the large nursery in Rumpin and distributing seeds to farmers, I gathered all the general directors for a meeting in Rumpin,” Raja Juli stated, as quoted by Palmoilmagazine.com on Wednesday (30/10/2024).
One of the key topics discussed during the meetings was the governance of palm oil plantations in forested areas. This issue is of particular importance to the government, as it has significant implications for environmental preservation and sustainable forestry in Indonesia. Raja Juli, accompanied by Vice Minister of Environment and Forestry, Sulaiman Umar, also discussed the implementation and governance of forestry policies.

Raja Juli emphasized the importance of understanding on-the-ground issues to ensure that MEF programs are effectively implemented, as directed by President Prabowo. He believes that officials’ presence in the field allows for better evaluation of program outcomes and ensures that local communities benefit positively from these initiatives.
“I take the general directors in MEF to directly see the field, to evaluate that every program would be the same as what President Prabowo instructed. I want to know what the reality is in the field and confirm that the people get the output from every work,” he said.
It was the same with what MEF would do to escalate the people’s involvement to conserve the forest and get sustainable governance. Persemaian Modern Rumpin would be one strategic program that provided seeds and the farmers would take advantages around the forest areas to support reforestation and escalate the local’s welfare.
