“These parameters will guide decisions on palm oil industrial development,” he stated, as reported by Palmoilmagazine.com quoted from the Information and Communication Agency of North Kalimantan Province on Saturday, September 14, 2024.
In North Kalimantan Province, where palm oil plantations cover approximately 38,061 hectares and produce about 73,946.30 tons, the governor highlighted the significant opportunities for growth due to the increasing global demand for palm oil products. “We hope this will boost product sales and positively impact employment, which currently stands at around 8,333 people,” he added.
To support the progress the supporting infrastructures would be crucial. The province now has about 20 palm oil mills in the Regency of Bulungan, Tana Tidung, Malinau, and Nunukan but they could not produce maximally. He emphasized it would be significant to get feasibility study and construct bigger mills that would produce abundant fresh fruit bunch.
The cooperation with University of Hasanuddin (Unhas), led by Haerani., Ph.D as the Chairman of Feasibility Document Formulation of Palm Oil Industrial Development would be the start to determine the strategic locations to develop palm oil industries there. (P2)
