PALMOILMAGAZINE, JAKARA – During a press conference held with the Coordinator Ministry in Maritime and Investment, the Badan Pengawasan Keuangan dan Pembangunan (BPKP) announced the implementation of a self-reporting mechanism to obtain data related to the palm oil plantation business. The BPKP has prepared a system to collect data, including information on property tax, location permits, business rights, and plantation business permits.
In fact, many palm oil plantation businesses are unsynchronized one to another though the companies are the same. “We have to deal with it and if they can explain everything, they have to. But it starts from self-reporting,” representative of BPKP explained at the press conference with Coordinator Ministry in Maritime and Investment, as Palmoilmagazine.com monitored, Friday (23/6/2023) in Jakarta.
BPKP also mentioned every instance that is in charge in palm oil taskforce should do their authority, for instance, tax institution should examine about tax, if business rights needs improvement, Ministry of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial/National Land Agency would review, while the location permit should be reviewed by Ministry of Environment and Forestry.

“We need the right data from each company, recorded in Siperibun which is the report system in Ministry of Agriculture,” BPKP told.
The system would connect with other institutions and ministry. Every government’s instance would cooperate both Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Agrarian Affairs/National Land Agency, Ministry of Finance, BPKP and other that Coordinator Ministry in Maritime and Investment manages.
“This would start from the companies, after that, from the smallholders, and then unions. They have to register everything. Without having the correct data, we could not manage this country well. That is why we have to improve data together,” BPKP mentioned.
Prior Coordinator Minister in Maritime and Investment, Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, said, the taskforce involves many institutions, such as, Coordinator Ministry in Politics, Law, and Security, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Internal Affairs, Ministry of Environment and Forestry, the Attorney, and law officers. One significant job description of the taskforce is about to accelerate palm oil issue in forest areas with the time limit as it is regulated in Undang-Undang Cipta Kerja (UUCK) would be on 2 November 2023.
The main goal is about to improve palm oil plantation governance from upstream to downstream sectors to encourage palm oil industrial management sustainably. “And also to improve smallholders replanting program which is always forgotten to escalate plantation productivity,” Pandjaitan said. (T2)
