PALMOILMAGAZINE, MEDAN – On Tuesday, 20th June 2023, the voluntary group known as Ganjar Milenial Center (GMC) in North Sumatera Province organized a training session in the Village of Lobuhala, Subdistrict of Kualuh Selatan, District of Labuhanbatu Utara. The purpose of the training was twofold: to assist smallholders in their palm oil production and to raise awareness about Ganjar Pranowo as a candidate for the 2024 presidential election among the local population.

Aan Sianipar, the regional coordinator of GMC Labuhanbatu Utara, expressed the group’s intention to support smallholders in creating palm oil buckets using sustainable materials such as rattan and recycled tires. By utilizing used materials, the training aimed to promote the reuse and repurposing of waste, contributing to a more environmentally friendly approach.

“The buckets (from the training) were handed over to Kelompok Tani Masyarakat Mandiri Village of Lobuhala to help them (lifting up their fresh fruit bunch/FFB),” he said, as Palmoilmagazine.com quoted from Antara.

Besides rattan and used tire, other materials to make palm oil bucket were two stalks of wood, as long as adult arms, nail. But the main materials were rattan and used tire.

It was in simple webbing. The participants of the training were from millennial generations and old men. They were not difficult to follow the trainers’ instructions.

Besides it was easy, the making of rattan bucket did not spend much time. Every phase would spend only 20 to 30 minutes. While the making of used tire – bucket would spend less than 20 minutes for it was not in webbing technique just like the rattan. (T2)
