PALMOILMAGAZINE, KUCHING — During the International Sustainable Palm Oil Forum (ISPOF) held at the Caledonian Club in London, Sarawak presented its comprehensive plan to address energy transition and climate crisis.
Hazland Abang Hipni, the Vice Minister of Energy and Environment Conservation, represented the guidelines and strategies outlined in the plan.
In sustainable palm oil production context, Hazland said, United Kingdom (UK) accession to Comprehensive Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) is the chance to reinforce economic and trade agreement with Asia Pacific particularly Malaysia.

“UK and Malaysia are ready to see the chance of significant trade progress through CPTPP and eliminate tariff is the profitable solution for both countries, namely for the consumers in UK and palm oil producer in Malaysia, he said, as Palmoilmagazine.com quoted from Borneo Post.
Hazland also mentioned issue complexity in palm oil sector is the challenge for the policy makers to optimize social – economic advantages and minimize the negative for the environment.
“That is why the balance between environment, social, and economy would be the basic formulation of policy to publish heading to develop sustainable palm oil industries,” he said.
Meanwhile Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Plantation and Commodity Malaysia, Dato Sri Fadillah Yusof told his speech in the forum that he shared about sustainable trade and responsible business practices in nowadays global era.
For information, ISPOF would be the platform to promote sustainable trade plan, including palm oil in it, by hoping to educate consumers about sustainable palm oil – the advantages, the impacts to environment, and economic chance. (T2)
