PALMOILMAGAZINE, CENTRAL BANGKA – Syafrizal ZA, Governor in duty of Kepulauan Bangka Belitung, announced that the palm oil mill owned by a suspect in a tin corruption case can resume operations and purchase fresh fruit bunches (FFB) from local smallholders.
“I coordinated with the Special Crime Division at the Attorney General’s Office, and the conclusion was that the mill owner’s account remains blocked,” Syafrizal ZA stated during a peaceful demonstration by smallholders in Pangkalpinang on Monday.
He also mentioned that to address the impacts on companies owned by the tin corruption suspect, Kepulauan Bangka Belitung Province would hold a coordination meeting with other leaders in Central Bangka Regency.

Furthermore, he noted that the two suspects in the tin corruption case have been arrested by the Attorney General’s Office for their alleged involvement in a major corruption scandal in Kepulauan Bangka Belitung.
“We would facilitate that the two companies could be operating again because the related institutions blocked the owners’ accounts, not the companies’ accounts. It means, the mill can operate and the smallholders should sell their FFB to the mill,” Syafrizal said, as Palmoilmagazine.com quoted from Antara, Tuesday (4/6/2024).
The coordinator of the demonstration from Central Bangka and South Bangka, Ruben Alparobi hoped that the governments and the Great Attorney would deliver the best solution for what the smallholders are facing for they could not sell their FFB in the past two months.
“The smallholders are in difficulty for they could not sell their FFB to the company/mill because of tin corruption case,” he said. (T2)
