PALMOILMAGAZINE, JAKARTA – On Monday morning, the political scene was taken aback when Airlangga Hartarto unexpectedly resigned as Chairman of the Golkar Party. His sudden departure was not linked to any ongoing legal investigations by the Attorney General’s Office.
The Attorney General’s Office clarified that the ongoing legal case is based solely on available facts and evidence, with no connection to political motives. Harli, the spokesperson for the Attorney General, stated that the case is purely about justice and not influenced by political interests, as reported by Palmoilmagazine.com, citing Kompas on Wednesday (14/8/2023).
The corruption allegations related to the export of crude palm oil (CPO) and its derivatives in 2021, as well as the 2023 palm cooking oil scarcity case, had previously mentioned Airlangga as a witness. However, Harli emphasized that investigators have not identified Airlangga as a suspect.

In the press conference at Golkar Party Head Quarter, West Jakarta, Vice Chairman of Golkar Party, Ahmad Doli Kurnia said that the retirement of Airlangga had no issue with the legal. “I just knew his retirement last night. This morning, I had to go to Jakarta and heard what Airlangga said in person,” Doli said.
He thought, Airlangga decided to retire to focus on his work as Coordinator Minister in Economy. “He chose to concentrate as Coordinator Minister in Economy to do his best in the transition government from the President and Vice President ,Joko Wdidodo – Ma’ruf Amin to Prabowo and Gibran,” Doli said.
