PALMOILMAGAZINE, JAKARTA – Chairman of the Indonesian Planters Society (IPS), Jamalul, opened a webinar titled “Palm Oil from the Perspective of Millennials and Gen Z: Addressing Sustainability Issues and Career Opportunities”. Organized by IPS Central Kalimantan, the online event was attended by 586 participants from various provinces.
In his opening remarks, Jamalul expressed appreciation to all organizers and participants. “The younger generations, Millennials and Gen Z, must continue the sustainability achievements initiated by previous generations. Sustainability is now globally recognized, and as the world’s leading producer, we must continuously adapt to global demands,” he stated during the event, as reported by Palmoilmagazine.com on Saturday (14/12/2024).
Jamalul emphasized the importance of involving younger generations in sustainability issues. Millennials, currently aged 28-43, and Gen Z, aged 12-27, are the future pillars of the palm oil industry. “This webinar aims to inspire them to understand the significant opportunities in the palm oil industry, while also embracing their responsibility toward sustainability,” he added.
The event was divided into three discussion sessions featuring speakers from palm oil industry professionals, all of whom are IPS members. These experts shared their experiences and insights on sustainability practices within the sector.
“Our speakers are specialists in their fields, actively working in major companies, proving that this industry offers promising and rewarding career opportunities,” Jamalul explained.
With approximately 700 experienced members, IPS continues to expand its influence within society. The organization not only focuses on enhancing its members’ quality but also develops educational initiatives, such as this webinar, to raise awareness about sustainability in the palm oil industry.
At the event’s conclusion, participants were encouraged to join IPS to expand their networks and deepen their knowledge of the palm oil sector. “With active participation from younger generations, we are optimistic that the sustainability of Indonesia’s palm oil industry will continue to grow and gain broader international recognition,” Jamalul concluded.
