PALMOILMAGAZINE, BENGKALIS – The Bengkalis Regency Plantation Office (Disbun) held a socialization event for the Oil Palm Smallholder Replanting Program (PKSP) on Wednesday, December 12, 2024. The program aims to improve the quality and productivity of oil palm plantations in the region through funding provided by the Palm Oil Plantation Fund Management Agency (BPDP-KS).

Head of the Bengkalis Plantation Office, Mohammad Azmir, emphasized that this program is expected to strengthen collaboration between the government, smallholders, companies, and other stakeholders. “We aim to create a sustainable oil palm plantation sector that contributes to Bengkalis’ economic growth,” said Azmir, as quoted by Palmoilmagazine.com on Monday (16/12/2024).

Azmir highlighted the importance of support from all parties, including sub-district heads, village heads, and plantation associations, to encourage farmers to utilize this program. “The Ministry of Agriculture’s regulations provide a significant opportunity for smallholder farmers to access replanting assistance, facilities, and infrastructure through BPDP-KS,” he explained.

Meanwhile, the Bengkalis Police Chief, represented by the Head of Intelligence, AKP Bagus Nagara Baranacita, reminded attendees about the legal sanctions concerning land management in forest areas. Under Law No. 6 of 2023 on Job Creation, individuals who have already established plantations in forest areas will first face administrative sanctions to prevent criminalization.

He also urged communities, companies, and farmer groups to avoid clearing land in forest areas. “Cross-agency cooperation is crucial to prevent violations, and perpetrators of illegal land clearing will face strict sanctions in accordance with regulations,” he stressed.

The PKSP program is expected to provide significant benefits for Bengkalis oil palm farmers while promoting sustainable and legally compliant plantation management. (P2)
