POPSI welcomed the joint investigation by Kortas Tipikor and Polda Metro Jaya into alleged corruption involving case brokers linked to Indonesia’s Attorney General’s Office. The organization urged investigators to conduct a thorough inquiry in accordance with applicable laws to ensure all relevant facts are uncovered.

Beyond the ongoing investigation, POPSI called on authorities to expand scrutiny to broader governance issues within Indonesia’s palm oil plantation sector.

The organization said that if evidence of legal violations is found—including in cases involving the seizure of oil palm plantations located in forest areas—those responsible should be investigated transparently regardless of their institutional affiliation.

Representing independent oil palm farmers across Indonesia, POPSI said stronger legal certainty is essential to improving governance and protecting farmers’ interests. According to the organization, a transparent and corruption-free regulatory environment would provide greater confidence for smallholders and support the long-term sustainability of the national palm oil industry.

POPSI also emphasized the need for stronger coordination among law enforcement agencies to improve the effectiveness of anti-corruption efforts, particularly in cases affecting public interests and state finances.
