PALMOILMAGAZINE, NEW DELHI – Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani, Malaysia’s Minister of Plantation and Commodities, expressed optimism about the future of palm oil exports from Malaysia to India. He attributed this optimism to the growing middle class in India, which he believes will drive demand for Malaysian palm oil.
In his speech at a conference organized by the India Vegetable Oil Producers Association, Johari noted that Malaysia exported 3.3 million tons of palm oil and related products to India last year, generating approximately US$3 billion. This figure represented 13% of Malaysia’s total palm oil exports.
He also emphasized Malaysia would be committed to be the source of high and reliable quality source of palm oil for India. “We are committed to support food security needs in India and would develop the strong and sustainable partnership that would adapt the changing demands,” he said, as Palmoilmagazine.com quoted from Bernama, Friday (25/7/2024).
