PALMOILMAGAZINE, JAKARTA – In May 2024, Indonesia’s crude palm oil (CPO) production decreased by 5.59% compared to the previous month, falling from 4.11 million tons in April to 3.88 million tons. Palm kernel oil (PKO) production also declined by approximately 25,000 tons, from 393,000 tons in April to 368,000 tons in May.
According to the Indonesian Palm Oil Association (IPOA), year-on-year (YoY) CPO production as of May 2024 decreased by 3.19% compared to the same period last year.
Domestic consumption in May increased by 2.64%, reaching 1.94 million tons compared to 1.89 million tons in April. However, consumption in the food sector slightly decreased by 1.51%, from 862,000 tons in April to 849,000 tons in May.

Oleochemical consumption fell from 188,000 tons in April to 187,000 tons in May. In contrast, biodiesel consumption saw a significant increase of 7.72%, rising from 842,000 tons in April to 907,000 tons in May.
