PALMOILMAGAZINE, YOGYAKARTA – An innovative breakthrough emerged at Politeknik LPP Yogyakarta, where students Dandi Syahrul Gunawan, Ridho Pardosi, Timbul Widodo, Muhammad Iqbal, and Nabillah Dwi Africia successfully developed natural printer ink using empty fruit bunches—a byproduct often overlooked in the palm oil industry.
Their creation was showcased in the 2024 Program Kreativitas Mahasiswa (PKM) organized by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology. This printer ink not only delivers consistent high-quality printing but also offers an environmentally friendly solution by utilizing materials typically considered waste.
“The innovation was from our concern to minimize environmental impacts from empty bunch which many considered as the waste. By having series of tests, we successfully create black pigment that can be used as printer ink,” one member of the students said to Palmoilmagazine.com, Sunday (10/8/2024).

They hoped the natural pink would be the alternative in printer ink producers sustainably, minimize the dependence on synthetic materials that are mostly used.
This means, Politeknik LPP Yogyakarta proved not only the capability of the students to make innovation but also delivered real contribution to promote sustainable materials in printing technology. The breakthrough should deliver new chances to develop the future sustainable industries. (P2)
