PALMOILMAGAZINE, JAKARTA – Kacuk Sumarto, Chairman of Rumah Sawit Indonesia (RSI), reaffirmed the organization’s commitment to supporting national food, energy, and economic sovereignty through sustainable palm oil development. Speaking at a recent discussion forum, he emphasized RSI’s readiness to serve as a strategic partner to the government in advancing the sector.
RSI has partnered with 17 strategic institutions to implement key programs such as land mapping, support for the Smallholder Palm Oil Replanting Program (PSR), research and technological advancement, and human resource capacity building.
“We’re also prioritizing regenerative agriculture practices to promote sustainability in the palm oil industry, while engaging international partners to advocate on carbon emission issues,” Kacuk explained during a press conference attended by Palmoilmagazine.com in late November 2024.

Kacuk also highlighted the importance of land intensification and cultivation engineering to improve productivity. He expressed confidence that, through these strategic measures, palm oil yields—currently averaging just 2 tons per hectare—could be increased to 6–7 tons per hectare.
“This would be a significant contribution toward achieving the goals of Indonesia Emas 2045,” he added.
To foster a more attractive investment climate, RSI is advocating for the establishment of a National Palm Oil Agency. This initiative is seen as a concrete step to provide legal certainty in the sector.
“Governance based on legal clarity will create a secure and favorable environment for investment, enabling the palm oil industry to reach its full potential,” Kacuk stated.
RSI also underscored the vital role of the media as a strategic partner. Kacuk described the media as a crucial channel for conveying both feedback and appreciation to the government and the public.
“We’re planning to hold monthly meetings, both in person and online, to address emerging issues on the ground,” he shared.
During the forum, RSI members expressed their continued commitment to empowering smallholders and industry players to reach their full potential.
“Palm oil is Indonesia, and Indonesia is palm oil. This reflects our commitment to defending palm oil as a strategic sector for our nation,” Kacuk declared.
Through these strategic efforts, RSI aims to solidify Indonesia’s palm oil sector as a key pillar in ensuring long-term food, energy, and economic resilience. (P2)
