Malaysian Palm Oil Futures Decline

In the global market, Malaysian palm oil futures closed lower on Friday, pressured by expectations of higher Malaysian palm oil inventories and slower export demand.

The benchmark October 2026 CPO contract on Bursa Malaysia Derivatives fell RM8 per metric ton, or 0.17%, to RM4,678 per ton, according to Reuters.

Despite the daily decline, the benchmark contract gained 0.75% over the week, marking its fourth weekly advance in the past five weeks.

A Reuters survey estimated that Malaysia’s palm oil inventories in July could rise to their highest level in five months, as production growth outpaced demand.

Market participants are now awaiting official July supply and demand data from the Malaysian Palm Oil Board (MPOB), scheduled for release on Aug. 10.
