Meanwhile, Reuters reported that CPO futures on the Malaysian exchange weakened on Thursday (June 5, 2025), ending a two-day rally. The decline was attributed to profit-taking by investors and downward pressure from falling prices of competing vegetable oils on global markets, especially in Chicago and Dalian exchanges.

CPO futures for August 2025 delivery on the Malaysia Derivatives Exchange fell by RM29 or approximately 0.73% to RM3,919 per metric ton (equivalent to US$924.29) during the midday trading break.

On the Dalian exchange, the most active soybean oil contract dropped by 0.29%, while palm oil contracts experienced a sharper decline of 0.91%. Simultaneously, soybean oil futures on the Chicago Board of Trade fell by 0.56%.

The global decline in vegetable oil prices often directly affects CPO prices, given their competitive role in international markets as key raw materials for cooking oil, biodiesel, and other derivative products.
