PALMOILMAGAZINE, BANJARMASIN – Minister of Agriculture, Syahrul Yasin Limpo (SYL) thought that in macro-economy of Indonesia, palm oil industries play strategic roles, such as, the biggest contributor in revenue, economic locomotive nationally, energy sovereignty, supporting people’s economic sector, and delivering employment. Palm oil plantations develop fast and reflect revolution.

Palm oil plays significant roles for the economy in Indonesia within trade performance that keeps increasing. That is why Minister of Agriculture, Syahrul Yasin Limpo (SYL) took every planter to accelerate smallholders replanting program (SRP) through improving plantation governance sustainably to maintain and even increase the production.
“In specific today, I take every party that involves in to join and make palm oil plantation go forward sustainably through the government’s programs, such as, SRP, human resource development, and infrastructures,” SYL said, in the official statement to Palmoilmagazine.com, Wednesday (23/8/2023).
He hoped, this (the meeting) would be the moment to get multi-party synergy to accelerate and trigger the spirit to reinforce palm oil plantation nationally in encouraging competition and recover the economy nationally in palm oil plantation centers through the government’s program and take advantages from every potential.
“South Kalimantan Province has serious potential and reliable to maximally be done to get better production. This meeting with the governor, police chief, and many regional leaders, chairman of regional Legislators, we need to encourage, such as, the implementation of SRP,” he said.
He also mentioned the meeting concluded, 2023 SRP in the province would cover 10 thousand hectares. That is why the smallholders that would get SRP should be encouraged to get intercrops in their plantations, such as, bean, corn, tubers, and others.
“Which means, we should not cut off only, or waited for two years while the government does nothing. No, it is not. We hope to get intervention by planting corn, tubers, beans while waiting for palm oil trees to get production to maintain the smallholders their welfare,” SYL said. (T2)
