Palmoilmagazine.com, SORONG – PT Permata Putera Mandiri (PPM), a subsidiary of PT Austindo Nusantara Jaya Tbk. (ANJ), successfully completes the rehabilitation of the Malanu watershed in Sorong Utara, Sorong City.
The rehabilitation project, covering approximately 13 hectares in the protected forest area, was carried out in compliance with the Minister of Environment and Forestry’s Decision (SK.4704/Menlhk-PDASHL/KTA/DAS.1/8/2020) issued on August 7, 2020.
This watershed rehabilitation initiative is a testament to the company’s environmental commitment and obligation, as it holds the Izin Pinjam Pakai Kawasan Hutan (IPPKH) permit.
For the successful rehabilitation, Director of PPM, Mohammad Fitriyansyah handed over the watershed rehabilitation to General Director of Watershed Management and Forest Rehabilitation Ministry of Environment and Forestry, Dyah Murtiningsih on 15 June 2023 in the room of the directorate, Gedung Manggala Wanabakti, Jakarta.

Mohammad Fitriyansyah said, the company prioritizes to protect forests, such as, rehabilitating, replanting in high conservation status, replanting in watershed, and nursing forest trees in the company’s operational.
“Sustainable forest cultivation and advantage on natural resources are the keys to fight climate change, and would contribute to prosperity and welfare for nowadays and future generations,” Fitriyansyah said, as in the official statement to Palmoilmagazine.com recently.
About 13 hectare – area rehabilitation was planted by 19.380 trees, such as, mahoni, merbau, linggua, cempedak, areca nut, rambutan, durian, and cashew within living percentage to grow about 94,76%. The trees were chosen by hoping to deliver additional profits for the people around and the plant conservation remains to decrease the damage risks and maintain natural conservation around.
In the second year – nursery in 2022, Balai Pengelolaan Daerah Aliran Sungai dan Hutan Lindung (BPDASHL) Remu Ransiki, Forest Agency Papua Barat Province, and Kesatuan Pengelolaan Hutan Lindung (KPHL) City of Sorong did ground-check, evaluation and delivered technical guidance for those in charge.
It was running from the regulation of MEF on 31 January 2019 that published IPPKH for palm oil plantation transportation path that laid about 11,48 hectares in District of Sorong Selatan. From the regulation, the company that has IPPKH should do watershed rehabilitation. The selection of watershed rehabilitation refereed to the Decision of MEF Number SK.10612/Menlhk-PDASHL/KTA/DAS.1/12/2019 about Determination of Planting Locations in the context of Watershed Rehabilitation on behalf of PT Permata Putera Mandiri.
