Persistent Gender Inequality in the Palm Oil Industry

Doc. Special / Coordinator of Sub-commission Human Rights Advancement National Commission of Human Rights, Anis Hidayah said, gender injustice still exists for female labors in palm oil sector for they seem to be no existence.

PALMOILMAGAZINE, JAKARTA – Until now palm oil is considered as one biggest revenue contributor in Indonesia that reached up to Rp 250 trillion in every year. Unfortunately, the high contribution still has work to improve, such as there is no clear regulation about plantation labor protection.

Coordinator of Sub-commission Human Rights Advancement National Commission of Human Rights, Anis Hidayah said, gender injustice still exists for female labors in palm oil sector for they seem to be no existence.

Anis delivered her materials about what female labors in palm oil plantations as the response of the condition. She thought, the female is in structural impoverishment and structural exploitation.
