Indonesia’s Palm Oil Production Surges by 12.4% in May 2023

PALMOILMAGAZINE, JAKARTA – Though palm oil and its derivative consumption increased in this country, the production and stock also increased highly and the final stock in May were abundant that reached 28,7% to be 4,67 million tons (May 2023) or increased 1,04 million tons from 3,63 million tons in April 2023

Crude palm oil (CPO) and palm kernel oil (PKO) production in May 2023 increased 12,4% from the previous month. It happened for Lebaran holidays when harvest process did not run as usual. Compared to May 2022, CPO and PKO production to May 2023 increased 15% year on year (YoY).

In May 2023, total consumption in the domestic decreased 4,2% from April 2023. It happened to biodiesel (-10,4%), oleochemical (-1,5%). In cumulative from January to May 2023, biodiesel increased (+5%), oleochemical did too (+5,6%) and food industries did increase (+29,3%).

“In YoY, total consumption by May 2023 increased 15,4% to be 9.114 thousand tons from 7.898 thousand tons in the same period in 2022,” Executive Director of Indonesian Palm Oil Association (IPOA), Mukti Sardjono said, as in the official statement to Palmoilmagazine.com, Tuesday, (22/8/2023). (T2)
