PALMOILMAGAZINE, JAKARTA – Many people have complained about the high price and scarcity of palm cooking oil, specifically MinyaKita, which is being sold at around Rp 15,700 per liter in various markets. Consumers are finding it both expensive and hard to find.
Iding (43), a grocery store owner in Duren Sawit, East Jakarta, noted that MinyaKita is particularly difficult to source. “MinyaKita is hard to come by. People are buying it quickly, and other types of palm cooking oil have become more expensive,” Iding said.
He also suggested that the shortage could be due to supply issues from suppliers and a lack of raw materials. “We got it from suppliers. There was no stock. It was said that there was no material,” he said, as Palmoilmagazine.com quoted from Sindonews, Friday (2/8/2024).

Prior, Iding got palm cooking oil quota from the distributor for about 200 cartons. But it is not available. “We got MinyaKita from Food Station, Village Enterprise – 200 cartons. But now there is no stock because they did not produce and the material is nothing at all,” he said.
He also mentioned Minyakita was Rp 165.000 per carton. Now it is Rp 172.000 per carton. “But we sell it about Rp 15 thousand. If it is available, we still sell it at Rp 15.500,” he said.
In association with that, Ministry of Trade confirm that the highest retail price (HRP) of MinyaKita would be more expensive in this very short. The regulation would be about to be published.
Director of Daily Needs and Important Goods Ministry of Trade, Bambang Wisnubroto said that many institutions, ministries, and stakeholders discussed and studied to make HRP of Minyakita more expensive. “The increasing HRP of Minyakita would be about to get more expensive. There had been eight discussions with other ministries, institutions, and other stakeholders. We did conduct public hearing,” Bambang said in the coordination meeting about inflation control in the regions virtually, Monday (8/7/2024). (P2)
