PALMOILMAGAZINE, NANNING — At the 21st China-ASEAN Expo (CAEXPO) and the China-ASEAN Business and Investment Summit (CABIS) held at the Nanning International Convention and Exhibition Center (NICEC), Indonesia reaffirmed its commitment to sustainable palm oil industries.
During the Indonesia Talkshow on September 26, 2024, on the expo’s third day, representatives from the Palm Oil Plantation Fund Management Agency (PO PFMA) and the Indonesian Palm Oil Association (IPOA) discussed the “Sawit Baik” campaign.
The discussion highlighted the significant role of the palm oil industry in Indonesia’s economy while emphasizing the commitment to sustainable production practices. Miftah Farid, Director of Primary Product Exports at the Ministry of Trade, noted that palm oil exports to China have seen positive growth.
“China is one of Indonesia’s largest trade partners in the palm oil sector. Our palm oil exports play a crucial role in strengthening trade relations between the two countries,” Miftah stated in an official release quoted by Palmoilmagazine.com on Thursday (26/9/2024).

Miftah also pointed out that China ranks as the fourth largest destination for Indonesian palm oil exports, particularly in green energy products like biodiesel, which are expected to continue growing. He emphasized that in addition to providing significant economic benefits, Indonesia’s palm oil industry will continue to innovate to ensure environmental sustainability, in line with government policies aimed at promoting environmentally friendly product exports.
Head of Civil Society and Social PO PFMA, Aida Fitria emphasized the sustainability aspect in palm oil industries. Aida thought, PO PFMA and IPOA did many things to confirm that palm oil products from Indonesia were sustainably produced. “Sustainable palm oil is our commitment to support the practices to maintain sustainable environment,” she said and continued that palm oil would be the most efficient plant of vegetable oils and playing the significant roles in global scale – economy and minimize the environmental impacts.
Aida also mentioned that Indonesia published and implemented close regulations in the wastes and ecosystem management around the plantations, as parts to eliminate the negative stigma about deforestation that always attached to palm oil industries.
During the exhibition in the Paviliun City of Charm Hall B2, PO PFMA and IPOA showed up the latest innovation in palm oil industries, such as, environmental technologies, derivative products, and the efforts of the industries to qualify sustainability standards in the globe. The pavilion triggered many international scale stakeholders and visitors to know for the innovation and commitment of Indonesia to sustainable palm oil.
The campaign “Sawit Baik” that Indonesia proposed in the 2024 CAEXPO would be the way to answer the global scale – challenges about sustainable environment and would open wider chances for palm oil products from Indonesia to many countries, namely China. (P2)
