PALMOILMAGAZINE, JAKARTA – Minister of Trade Budi Santoso welcomed Sahat M. Sinaga, Chairman of the Indonesian Palm Oil Council (DMSI), at the Ministry of Trade office in Jakarta on Monday (12/9). The meeting focused on strategic issues in the national palm oil sector, including the mandatory Biodiesel (B40) policy set to launch in 2025 and efforts to stabilize cooking oil prices.
Minister Budi highlighted the importance of balancing domestic crude palm oil (CPO) production to meet energy, food, and export demands, particularly with the upcoming implementation of the B40 policy. “We need insights and input from DMSI to ensure that the policies formulated are equitable and beneficial, especially in supporting food security,” he stated, as quoted by Palmoilmagazine.com on Tuesday (12/10/2024).
The Ministry of Trade aims to incorporate feedback from DMSI to develop policies that promote sustainable development and community welfare, while addressing energy and food priorities.
The Minister was accompanied by several senior officials during the meeting, including Director General of Domestic Trade Moga Simatupang, Director General of Consumer Protection and Trade Order Rusmin Amin, Director of Basic Needs and Essential Goods Bambang Wisnubroto, and Director of Export for Agricultural and Forestry Products Farid Amir.
This dialogue underscores the government’s commitment to involving key stakeholders in creating policies that strengthen the palm oil industry, stabilize prices, and advance sustainable energy initiatives. (P2)
