PALMOILMAGAZINE, KUALA LUMPUR — Malaysia’s palm oil inventories increased by 1.71% month-on-month in April 2026, driven by a sharp rise in crude palm oil (CPO) production, according to the latest data released by Malaysian Palm Oil Board (MPOB).
The report showed that Malaysia’s total palm oil stocks reached 2.30 million tons in April 2026, up around 38,900 tons from 2.27 million tons recorded in March.
In its April 2026 industry performance report, MPOB noted that CPO inventories rose 0.54% to 1.26 million tons from 1.25 million tons in the previous month.

Meanwhile, processed palm oil stocks climbed 3.16% to 1.04 million tons compared to 1.01 million tons in March 2026.
The increase in inventories came amid a strong recovery in Malaysian palm oil production throughout April. MPOB reported that CPO output jumped 18.37%, or an increase of 252,952 tons, reaching 1.63 million tons compared to 1.38 million tons in March.
Palm kernel production also recorded a substantial increase of 19.92%, rising to 390,124 tons from 325,320 tons previously.

Production of crude palm kernel oil (CPKO) increased 18.59% to 192,268 tons from 162,127 tons in March 2026. At the same time, palm kernel cake production climbed 21.54% to 214,403 tons from 176,406 tons in the previous month.
Quoted by Palmoilmagazine.com from The Edge Malaysia on Wednesday (May 13, 2026), the report also showed that despite stronger production, Malaysia’s palm oil exports declined during the month.
MPOB recorded a 14.34% drop in palm oil exports to 1.30 million tons in April 2026, down from 1.52 million tons in March.

The rise in Malaysia’s palm oil production and inventories is expected to influence global palm oil price movements in the coming weeks, particularly amid slowing exports and evolving international demand dynamics. (P2)
