PALMOILMAGAZINE, JAKARTA — The Indonesian Palm Oil Association (IPOA/GAPKI) has wrapped up a week-long mission to the United States and Europe, securing six Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with partner organizations across the two regions. The initiative is part of GAPKI’s ongoing campaign to strengthen global engagement and promote a more accurate, positive narrative about Indonesia’s palm oil sector.
The senior delegation—consisting of GAPKI Chairman Eddy Martono, Deputy Chairman Sany Anthony, and Head of International Affairs Fadhil Hasan—visited the US and four European countries from 18 to 26 November 2025. Their agenda focused on reinforcing institutional ties, opening dialogue with international stakeholders, and improving global understanding of Indonesia’s palm oil industry.
“This mission reflects GAPKI’s commitment to building bridges with international partners based on mutual respect and shared goals,” said GAPKI Chairman Eddy Martono in a statement received by Palmoilmagazine.com on Thursday (11/27).
Six MoUs to Deepen Trade, Sustainability, and Technical Cooperation
The six MoUs signed during the mission establish new frameworks for cooperation covering trade facilitation, sustainability initiatives, knowledge sharing, and technical capacity building. GAPKI described the agreements as a major expansion of its global network—an encouraging sign of growing international interest in working constructively with Indonesian palm oil producers.
One of the mission’s top priorities was exploring opportunities to boost market access for Indonesian palm oil. Discussions with international partners included ways to address non-tariff barriers that still hinder trade flows, and how producers can stay aligned with shifting consumer preferences in key export destinations.
Strengthening Coordination with Indonesian Diplomats Abroad
As part of the trip, the delegation also met Indonesian government representatives stationed in the visited countries to align perspectives on trade policy and diplomatic engagement.
“The six MoUs we signed will open meaningful avenues for collaboration in trade, sustainability, and capacity development,” Eddy said. Working closely with partners, he added, will help Indonesian producers better understand consumer expectations, overcome trade hurdles, and ensure Indonesian palm oil continues to meet the highest global standards.

Advocacy, Dialogue, and Indonesia’s Global Role
As an organization dedicated to representing and advocating for the palm oil industry at home and abroad, GAPKI believes that open dialogue and constructive engagement are essential for addressing global challenges together. Such cooperation, the association noted, will help ensure Indonesia’s palm oil remains a key driver of economic development while supporting environmental stewardship.
GAPKI represents Indonesia’s palm oil producers, who collectively account for around 60 percent of global output. The association continues to engage with stakeholders worldwide to advance sustainable practices and promote evidence-based discussions on the palm oil sector.
