GAPKI Reaffirms Commitment to Government Partnership on Food and Energy Security at 2026 National Meeting

PALMOILMAGAZINE, SOLO – The Gabungan Pengusaha Kelapa Sawit Indonesia (GAPKI) reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening collaboration with the government in supporting sustainable national food and energy security programs during its 2026 National Working Meeting (Rakernas), held in Solo from May 20–22, 2026.

GAPKI Chairman Eddy Martono said the palm oil industry plays a strategic role in supporting Indonesia’s food and energy self-sufficiency agenda. He stressed that stronger cooperation between industry stakeholders and the government is essential to ensure fair and sustainability-oriented policies.

“This reflects our shared determination that Indonesia’s palm oil industry must continue to play an important role in supporting national resilience, both in achieving food and energy self-sufficiency,” Eddy Martono said in an official statement received by Palmoilmagazine.com on Friday (22/5/2026).

The event was also attended by Dida Gardera, Senior Advisor for Connectivity and Service Development at Indonesia’s Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs, along with members of GAPKI’s advisory board, supervisory board, expert council, and regional representatives from across the country.

Eddy emphasized that GAPKI’s commitment will continue to prioritize sustainability principles and fairness for all industry participants, including oil palm smallholders. According to him, fair, consistent, and nationally oriented policies are crucial for creating business certainty while strengthening the competitiveness of Indonesia’s palm oil industry.

He noted that Indonesia’s palm oil sector has a long history, significant potential, and strong competitive advantages that can continue contributing to national economic growth and public welfare.

During the meeting, Eddy expressed hope that the 2026 GAPKI National Working Meeting would produce strong and adaptive work programs capable of addressing increasingly complex industry challenges.

“With GAPKI’s 45 years of experience, we are confident in developing reliable programs that will help Indonesia’s palm oil industry grow sustainably, inclusively, and deliver the greatest possible benefits for the nation,” he said.

In addition to the national meeting agenda, the event also featured a focus group discussion (FGD) on transforming palm oil research and innovation to strengthen the resilience and competitiveness of the industry.

The discussion involved various stakeholders, including GAPKI’s Research Division, representatives from the Plantation Fund Management Agency, Indonesia’s Ministry of Agriculture, researchers from the Palm Oil Research Center, and the Indonesian Quarantine Agency.

The FGD explored strategies to strengthen research and innovation aimed at improving productivity, efficiency, and the global competitiveness of Indonesia’s palm oil industry amid evolving market dynamics and increasing sustainability demands. (P3)
