IPOSC 2024: PFMA Emphasizes Importance of SRP Collaboration and Implementation

PALMOILMAGAZINE, PONTIANAK – The 4th Indonesian Palm Oil Smallholder Conference & Expo (IPOSC) 2024 was officially launched in Pontianak, West Kalimantan Province, with a focus on improving smallholder welfare through collaboration and the implementation of the Smallholders Replanting Program (SRP).

In his speech, he highlighted the strategic role of the palm oil sector in the national economy. Since its launch in 2016, the SRP has significantly boosted smallholder productivity and welfare. “The SRP has brought immense benefits, and we hope to expand its impact,” he said, as quoted by Palmoilmagazine.com on Thursday, September 19, 2024.

In addition to the SRP, the PO PFMA will continue supporting initiatives to advance the sector by providing assistance and financial support to smallholders. Normansyah also expressed his hope that the 4th IPOSC would serve as a platform for sharing information with other stakeholders, particularly smallholders in West Kalimantan, to further the success of these programs.

He also said that it would be significant to reinforce coordination among the stakeholders. “Reinforcing pollination and harmony among many parties would be important to face every challenge. Even though we are facing some issues, such as, the price and climate, by having better collaboration, it is hoped to increase the smallholders’ welfare,” he said.

Normansyah emphasized it would be important to get synergy among the smallholders, the government, and the private sectors to create sustainability in palm oil sector. By having the conference and export, it is hoped there would be concrete things to solve every challenge that the smallholders are facing in many regions.

It was attended by many heads of regions from palm oil centers that also supported to increase the smallholders’ welfare. “We do hope this conference would deliver new insight for smallholders and they would optimize their plantation potential and escalate their welfare,” Normansyah said.

By having IPOSC, there would be stronger collaboration among the stakeholders to realize sustainable palm oil industries and increase the smallholders’ economy in Indonesia. (P2)
