PALMOILMAGAZINE, MUSI BANYUASIN – Minister of Cooperatives and Small and Medium Enterprises, Teten Masduki, announced that the new red palm oil factory, recently constructed in Musi Banyuasin Regency, will benefit local smallholders. He made this statement during the groundbreaking ceremony for the Koperasi Unit Desa (KUD) Sejahtera red palm oil factory last Friday.
Teten expressed optimism that this factory will enhance the value of smallholders’ plantations and has the potential to produce a premium market product. He reassured that despite its distinctive color, red palm oil has been tested for safety, will not alter the taste of food, and retains its nutrients even after deep frying.
“The Europe decided the terms and condition of cooking oil and should be clear but red palm oil has additional values in its components, such as, vitamin,” Teten said, as Palmoilmagazine.com quoted from Antara, Sunday (4/8/2024).

The factory that would have production capacity up to 0,5 ton per hour should get its production from about one thousand hectares palm oil plantations. This would be from two sub districts around. The project would be the big hope for the local, namely importers and restaurants that wanted red palm oil production.
Sandi Fahlepi, Regent in duty of Musi Banyuasin said that agriculture, namely plantation sector, would be the pillar of economy in the regency. For palm oil plantations dominate, red palm oil factory would be significantly encouraging the economy locally namely to escalate the smallholders’ welfare, such as, KUD Sejahtera.
Muhammad Tamrin, Chairman of KUD Sejahtera emphasized that they would be committed to support the construction which started since 1984. By having asset more than Rp 110 billion and good membership, KUD Sejahtera would be ready to contribute in red palm oil factory which is integrated with CPO factory to maximize the advantages for the smallholders themselves and the local.
