PALMOILMAGAZINE, KENDARI – “The government is expediting the Smallholders Replanting Program (SRP), infrastructure projects, and the Indonesian Sustainable Palm Oil (ISPO) certification initiative by securing funding from the Palm Oil Plantation Fund Management Agency (PFMA).
Wawan Hardiwinata, the Head of Partnership at the Indonesian Plantation Association (IPA) or Gabungan Perusahaan Perkebunan Indonesia (GPPI), emphasized that the SRP aims to boost plantation productivity, strengthen smallholders’ organizations, and pave the way for ISPO certification.”
“SRP needs roles of banks as supporting fund sources until the trees are productive for about three years. Insurance is also needed to get guarantee fresh fruit bunch (FFB) price when it gets cheaper, and safe for the next SrP,” he said to Palmoilmagazine.com, Thursday (5/10/2023).

Profitable and good partnership system, he continued, was socialized, such as, through symposium with the theme “Program Pembiayaan dan Asuransi Dalam Mendukung Terwujudnya Ekosistem Usaha Kelapa Sawit Rakyat di Sulawesi Tenggara”.
He also mentioned it needs to deliver whole understanding about financing and insurance for smallholders namely in Southeast Sulawesi Province. The symposium itself was running on Thursday, 21 September 2023 and was the place for about 200 participants from palm oil stakeholders and planters to get PARTNERSHIP (agencies in province, district, city of Kendari, unions/smallholders’ groups, Village Enterprises, academy, bank, insurance, economic research center and National Innovation Research Agency).
Besides delivering deep understanding about the essence of partnership, Wawan continued, in the symposium, the speakers focused on financing and insurance aspects as integral parts of smallholders’ palm oil plantation roadmap.
The symposium did series of important event and handed over insurance policy for smallholders to protect theirs from risks to come, witnessed the signing of memorandum of understanding among many parties, Koperasi Gelora Sawit Indonesia, GPPI, General Directorate of Agriculture Infrastructure Ministry of Agriculture, and Asuransi Takaful Umum. The MoU is hoped to reinforce cooperation to get profitable partnership. (T2)
