PALMOILMAGAZINE, JAKARTA – Yogyakarta-based batik company, CV. Smart Batik Indonesia (Sm-art Batik), has achieved a groundbreaking success as the pioneer of the batik industry with a Halal certificate in Indonesia. As a partner in the Palm Oil Plantation Fund Management Agency’s (PFMA) micro, small, and medium-sized business (MSMB) initiative, Sm-art Batik has demonstrated a strong commitment to producing halal products.

Founded in 2018 by a couple, Miftahudin Nur Ihsan (Ihsan) and Dinar Indah Lufita Sari (Dinar), both former students of Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY), Sm-art Batik obtained its halal certificate after undergoing a comprehensive validation process. This process included registration, data entry, and an audit conducted by a reputable Lembaga Pemeriksa Halal (LPH).

The halal certificate was published by Badan Penyelenggara Jaminan Produk Halal (BPJPH) Ministry of Religion. Majelis Ulama Indonesia (MUI) was officially recognizing hala products (batik) that Sm-art Batik produced. According to the Laws Number 33 / 2014 about Jaminan Produk Halal (JPH), Sm-art Batik confirmed that the products qualified available halal standards.

CEO Sm-art Batik, Ihsan who is the alumni of chemical program study said that halal certificate is the proof of the company to seriously support sustainable batik industries. “We have to keep innovating particularly Yogyakarta is the City of Batik in the world. Every batik producer in Yogya should be the pioneer and sample for batik industries including to confirm halal products as Laws of JPH regulates,” the winner of the 2020 Wirausaha Muda Berprestasi from Ministry of Youth and Sport, said.

As in his official statement to Palmoilmagazine.com, Wednesday (3/1/2024), Sm-art Batik got award from the ministry as one of 24 inspirational and achievement young couples in 2019. This reflected their dedication to get creative industries in Indonesia go forward.

In developing palm oil batik industries, Sm-art Batik got support from Balai Besar Standardisasi dan Pelayanan Jasa Industri Kerajinan dan Batik (BBSPJIKB) or known as Balai Batik.

Since it joined MSMB palm oil in August 2023, Sm-art Batik has been committing to develop batik industries holistically. COO Sm-art Batik, Dinar Indah Lufita Sari told that PFMA delivered new insight about incredible potential from palm oil. “In 2024 our halal products would be more acceptable in the markets globally because many demanded on halal products,” Dinar said.
