PalmOilMagazine, PONTIANAK – The Indonesian Oil Palm Farmers Association (POPSI) recently organized its 4th annual conference and exhibition in West Kalimantan. This year’s event, themed “Integrated Efforts to Enhance Smallholder Palm Oil Production,” aimed to promote sustainable palm oil cultivation practices among Indonesian Smallholders.
During his address, Ardi Praptono, Director of Oil Palm and Other Palms at the Indonesian Ministry of Agriculture, praised POPS Indonesia for hosting the event. He emphasized its role in providing valuable insights into palm oil cultivation practices, particularly the use of superior oil palm seedlings.
“Smallholder palm oil farmers can adopt sustainable cultivation practices through superior oil palm seedlings, which can be funded through BPDPKS financing,” explained Ardi Praptono. He highlighted the significant support provided by the Oil Palm Plantation Fund Management Agency (BPDPKS) in facilitating sustainable cultivation practices, including funding for replanting, infrastructure, and human resource development, benefiting the wider community.

“The Ministry of Agriculture hopes that through BPDPKS funding, smallholder palm oil farmers can enhance their productivity,” he added.
The presence of the Indonesian government through the Ministry of Agriculture underscores its commitment to improving the welfare of its citizens. The 4th IPOSC is expected to propel the advancement of Indonesia’s smallholder palm oil sector.
Ardi Praptono, in his closing remarks, rallied the attendees of the 4th IPOSC to chant together, “Indonesian Smallholder Palm Oil… Prosperous!”
