PALMOILMAGAZINE, JAKARTA – The Indonesian Palm Oil Association (IPOA) and the Indonesian Police have entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) aimed at enhancing assistance in security, prevention, resolution of social conflicts, and legal enforcement within IPOA’s operational members.
The signing ceremony took place at the Ballroom Hotel Ayana Midplaza, Jakarta, on Tuesday (2/27/24), attended by Palmoilmagazine.com. The MoU was signed by IPOA Chairman Eddy Martono and Assistant Chief of Indonesian Police in Operational, Irjen Pol Drs. Verdianto I. Bitticaca.
During the event, Brigjen Pol Endi Sutendi, representing the Assistant Chief of Indonesian Police in Operational, highlighted the challenges faced by the palm oil industry despite its significant contribution to the economy. Issues such as crime and social conflicts pose obstacles to progress in the sector. The MoU will focus on addressing security concerns, including theft, vandalism, damage, and land disputes.

Endi also emphasized the government, security officers, plantation companies, and every other stakeholder should manage the issues well. He hoped the cooperation between both parties would be the basic to get further technical cooperation to solve every issue.
The MoU would cover seven scopes of cooperation, such as, information exchange, security helps, conflict deal, law enforcement, fire prevention, human resource enhancement, and infrastructure advantages.
Chairman of IPOA, Eddy Martono acknowledged that the crime and social conflicts get escalated in the past few years. He told that it is important to get security and legal certainty to maintain the business operational.
Eddy continued, it needs to socialize the MoU to many regions and took others to get further cooperation with local police. (T2)
