PALMOILMAGAZINE, JAKARTA — PT Danantara Sumberdaya Indonesia (Persero) (DSI) is stepping up efforts to strengthen the governance of Indonesia’s strategic commodity exports through a pilot platform designed to test its National Data Intelligence (NADI) portal ahead of a phased rollout to exporters.

The pilot involves six industry associations representing key sectors: the Indonesian Coal Mining Association (APBI-ICMA), the Indonesian Palm Oil Association (GAPKI), the Indonesian Vegetable Oil Industry Association (GIMNI), the Indonesian Nickel Industry Forum (FINI), the Indonesian Employers Association (APINDO), and the Indonesian Mining Association (IMA).

Government representatives from the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs, Ministry of Trade, Ministry of Finance, Directorate General of Customs and Excise, National Single Window Agency (LNSW), Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), and Bank Indonesia are also participating in the pilot.

DSI said early involvement from government agencies and industry groups is intended to ensure that improvements to export governance are implemented gradually and collaboratively, while maintaining trade efficiency and providing greater certainty for businesses.

Sinthya Roesly, DSI’s Director of Finance and Treasury, said the pilot represents a concrete step toward developing an integrated system that reflects the needs of both the government and business community.

“As a strong and unified ecosystem working toward a common goal, what we are seeking to build must be developed together with the government and industry players. Our priority is to enhance transparency and visibility while ensuring that export activities continue to run smoothly,” she said in a statement received by PalmOilMagazine on Friday (Oct. 2).

“Through this pilot, we can gather feedback, test processes together and continue refining the system. Ultimately, we aim to create a more transparent and coordinated export ecosystem that provides greater confidence to businesses and global markets in Indonesia’s strategic commodities,” she added.

Transition Aligned With Regulatory Developments

As DSI’s mandate and regulations governing strategic commodities continue to evolve, the government and DSI are holding further discussions to ensure that future implementation remains aligned with updated regulations while preserving the smooth flow of exports.

The participation of the six industry associations from the pilot stage is expected to play an important role in developing the platform. Their involvement is intended to ensure that the systems and mechanisms being developed address the operational requirements of businesses across strategic commodity sectors.

The initiative has also received positive responses from industry associations, which see greater data transparency and a more structured approach as potential tools for strengthening Indonesia’s export governance.

“We welcome this initiative because its objectives are aligned with efforts to promote Indonesian exports. Greater transparency and accountability are important outcomes that we hope can be achieved through this initiative and can ultimately support the strengthening of national exports,” said Priyadi, Chairman of APBI-ICMA.

A similar view was expressed by Paulus Edwin Gunawan Sutanto, representing GIMNI, who said the initiative could provide the industry with clearer analysis and benchmarks.

“This is a very positive initiative because this type of analysis is needed as a common reference. With more structured methodologies and pricing references, we hope we can work together to make improvements for a better Indonesia,” he said.

Feedback from associations and businesses gathered during the pilot will continue to be incorporated into the development of the platform. DSI said this process will help ensure that implementation is effective, aligned with regulatory developments and relevant to industry needs.

DSI Expands Commodity and Global Trade Expertise

Alongside developing the platform and strengthening coordination with government and industry, DSI is also expanding its capabilities by bringing in professionals with extensive experience in commodities and global trade.

Daniel Lim, who has 29 years of experience in the palm oil sector in Indonesia and Malaysia, has joined DSI as an advisor for the agribusiness sector.

His experience is expected to strengthen DSI’s understanding of palm oil trade dynamics, global markets and commodity value chains. His appointment complements DSI’s approach of combining technology, data, industry experience and trade expertise in developing an integrated ecosystem for strategic commodity exports.

The pilot platform will serve as a testing ground for processes, feedback and mechanisms developed jointly with government agencies and industry stakeholders.

Through closer collaboration and strengthened trade expertise, DSI said it will continue working toward a strategic commodity export ecosystem that is more transparent, trusted and integrated, while enhancing the competitiveness of Indonesian commodities in global markets. (P3)
