PALMOILMAGAZINE, JAKARTA —The Indonesian Palm Oil Association (IPOA or GAPKI) has launched a humanitarian initiative, GAPKI Peduli, working in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture (MoA) to deliver emergency aid to communities affected by severe flooding and landslides in parts of Aceh, North Sumatera, and West Sumatera.

“Solidarity is not a ceremony, but a moral calling of the nation,” said Minister of Agriculture Andi Amran Sulaiman while leading the donation drive for disaster victims. Within just one hour, around IDR 75.85 billion was collected. The in-kind assistance was immediately dispatched using 207 trucks on Thursday (4 December).

Minister Amran expressed his gratitude to all contributors, including GAPKI, for their swift support.

“May the assistance sent by GAPKI help ease the burden of our brothers and sisters affected by this disaster,” said GAPKI Secretary General M. Hadi Sugeng, who accompanied the minister during the release of the aid convoy.

GAPKI’s contribution included trucks loaded with food and beverages. Departing from the MoA headquarters, the trucks headed toward Tanjung Priok Port before continuing their journey to the disaster-hit areas.

Hadi Sugeng added that GAPKI Peduli will continue in the coming weeks. In addition to channeling support through the Ministry of Agriculture, GAPKI’s national leadership has instructed all regional branches across Indonesia to conduct similar humanitarian actions.

The central board also expressed appreciation for GAPKI’s branch networks, especially those in Sumatra, for their rapid response—from identifying affected residents and establishing emergency posts to deploying teams on the ground and delivering aid directly. (P3)
