“This forum is not merely a meeting, but a place where we can address issues—both internal organizational challenges and global challenges,” said Herman in a statement received by Palmoilmagazine.com on Friday (April 17).
According to him, palm oil remains a vital pillar of both regional and national economies. Therefore, the Andalas Forum is expected to go beyond ceremonial functions and generate actionable ideas that can deliver tangible impact for strengthening the industry.
For GAPKI, the forum is more than an annual meeting. It is designed as a collaborative space for dialogue, knowledge exchange, networking, and building stronger synergy among stakeholders to support sustainable governance in the palm oil sector. GAPKI Chairman Eddy Martono highlighted the pressing challenges currently faced by the industry, particularly in exports. He stressed that the decline in exports is not due to a lack of willingness from companies to sell, but rather the result of rising costs driven by unfavorable global conditions.
“Our exports are declining not because companies are unwilling to sell, but because global conditions have sharply increased costs,” he stated.
Key discussions at Andalas Forum VI covered a broad range of strategic issues, including Indonesia’s palm oil policy direction, efforts to balance energy, food, and sustainability priorities, the global acceptance of ISPO certification, and technological innovation in palm oil supply chains.
