PALMOILMAGAZINE, JAKARTA – In January 2024, crude palm oil (CPO) production surged compared to the previous month, reaching 4.232 thousand tons, a significant increase of 5.91% from 3.996 thousand tons in December 2023. Similarly, palm kernel oil (PKO) production also experienced a rise of approximately 5.91%, climbing from 380 thousand tons in December 2023 to 402 thousand tons in January 2024.
The Indonesian Palm Oil Association (IPOA) attributed this production uptick to more optimal harvesting conditions in January 2024, following numerous holidays in December 2023, which affected harvest and production schedules.
However, despite the production growth, total consumption in January 2024 decreased compared to December 2023. January 2024 consumption stood at 1.942 thousand tons, marking a 2.64% decline from December 2023’s consumption of 1.995 thousand tons.

“The decreasing consumption happened for three sectors, such as, food, oleochemical, and biodiesel. This was seasonal phenomenon because of Christmas and end year holidays in December,” Executive Director of IPOA, Mukti Sardjono said as in the official statement to Palmoilmagazine.com, Friday (29/3/2024).
