PALMOILMAGAZINE, JAKARTA — Indonesia’s palm oil exports posted solid growth throughout 2025, reflecting sustained global demand for the country’s flagship commodity. Statistics Indonesia (Badan Pusat Statistik/BPS) reported that exports of crude palm oil (CPO) and processed palm oil reached 23.61 million metric tons, marking a 9.09% increase in volume compared to the previous year.
Data released by BPS on Monday showed that the export value of palm oil during the year amounted to US$24.42 billion, underscoring the strategic role of the palm oil sector in supporting Indonesia’s external trade performance.
However, BPS emphasized that the figures do not include other palm-based derivative products such as palm kernel oil, oleochemicals, and biodiesel. As a result, the data primarily reflects exports of crude and major refined palm oil products.

Separately, the Indonesian Palm Oil Association (GAPKI) is expected to publish its own export figures at a later date. GAPKI’s data typically covers a broader range of palm oil derivatives, which often results in higher export totals compared to the official statistics released by BPS.
Differences in methodology and product coverage between official government data and industry association reports are common in the palm oil sector. Together, these datasets provide a more comprehensive picture of the palm oil industry’s overall contribution to Indonesia’s economy and trade balance. (P2)
