PALMOILMAGAZINE, JAKARTA – The General Directorate of Country’s Asset (GDCA) within the Ministry of Finance achieved a remarkable milestone in the total auction transactions for 2023, amounting to Rp 44.34 trillion. This achievement was driven by the stock trade of PT Gunung Baru Bara Utama (GBU), which was finalized in the Asuransi Jiwasyara case, and the auction of mortgage rights for palm oil plantations.

A focal point of the auction activities was the stock trade of PT GBU, which was successfully sold at a bid price of Rp 1.94 trillion. The stocks associated with the individual convicted, Heru Hidayat, gained significant attention in the country’s asset auction proceedings for 2023.

As stated in the official statement, the Director of Auction at GDCA, Joko Prihanto, said that the bankruptcy cases in 2023 tended to decrease. For comparison, the previous year, the bankruptcy asset auction reached Rp 2 trillion. In 2023, the numbers increased to Rp 1,8 trillion.

Joko Prihanto said that the decreasing numbers happened because GDCA was not working hard but as an indicator of a good economy. He hoped the positive trend would mean there would be no more companies going bankrupt but a stable and healthy economy in the business world.

“With the new hit, GDCA would always be committed to manage the country’s assets transparently and accountably, creating a good investment climate, and supporting economic progress nationally,” Joko said in a press conference in Jakarta on January 25, 2024. (T2)
