For producers, the implication is straightforward: access to premium markets is becoming increasingly tied to sustainability performance.
Rather than viewing this trend as a threat, STAA sees it as an opportunity.
With substantial production capacity and growing downstream operations, the company believes sustainability can unlock additional value through market premiums, stronger customer relationships, and access to green financing.
As environmental, social, and governance (ESG) considerations become increasingly important to institutional investors, sustainability certification is rapidly evolving from a competitive advantage into a business necessity.
The Next Decade of Palm Oil
Looking ahead, Tetuko expects three major trends to reshape the palm oil sector over the next five to ten years: regulatory convergence across global markets, digitalized sustainability systems, and greater inclusion of smallholders.
Under this emerging model, every tonne of palm oil will need to be traceable. Products will increasingly carry detailed information about carbon emissions, water usage, and labor conditions throughout the supply chain.

Transparency, once considered optional, is becoming a baseline expectation.
At the same time, industry stakeholders acknowledge that smallholders must remain part of the transition if sustainability commitments are to be implemented at scale.
For STAA, joining RSPO represents only one step in a much larger transformation. Yet in a market environment where accountability and transparency are becoming defining factors of competitiveness, that step may prove decisive.
