Recently, three Village Cooperative Units (KUD), namely KUD Sumber Rezeki in the Village of Bukit Agung, Sub-district of Kerinci Kanan, District of Siak, Riau Province; KUD Jaya Makmur in the Village of Kumbara Utama, Sub-district of Kerinci Kanan, District of Siak, Riau Province; and KUD Bukit Makmur in the Village of Sencano Jaya, Sub-district of Batang Peranap, District of Indragiri Hulu, Riau Province, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Asian Agri.

The MoU aims to facilitate the implementation of the Smallholders Replanting Program (SRP) with financial support from the Palm Oil Plantation Fund Management Agency (PFMA) and partnering banks. The signing ceremony took place at Hotel Ibis Styles in Bogor, West Java.

The SRP initiative will cover approximately 300 hectares for KUD Sumber Rezeki, 172 hectares for KUD Jaya Makmur, and 306 hectares for KUD Bukit Makmur. These efforts signify a joint commitment to sustainable palm oil plantation practices in the region.

Director of Fund Raising PFMA, Sunari said that SRP is one national strategic program as the way of government to escalate palm oil plantation productivity nationally. “That is why the signing of MoU among three parties in the tenth phase would get synergy among PFMA, banks, cooperation, and groups to accelerate SRP targets,” he said, as in the official statement to Palmoilmagazine.com, Friday, (21/7/2023).

Meanwhile, Head of Partnerships Asian Agri, Rudy Rismanto told that replanting is one target of the first pillar of sustainability commitment of Asian Agri 2030 which has been designed since February 2022.

“To realize it, we always commit to develop our partners both by delivering knowledge about the best agricultural practices, providing superior seeds – the Topaz to optimize productivity, helping loans to SRP, and developing them to get other businesses apart from planting palm oil to get alternative income,” Rudy said.

Chairman of KUD Jaya Makmur, Sudiyono said, the partnership with Asian Agri has led the smallholders in the union to get fast progress.

“We were intensively developed by the company ever since we replanted our plantations. In every preparation, condition needed both in planting process until alternative economic training as long as our plantations were unproductive still, the smallholders in our cooperation do not worry anymore. And We are ready to get SRP,” Sudiyono said. (T2)
