PALMOILMAGAZINE, ACEH SINGKIL – The smallholders replanting program (SRP) has suffered a critical setback, with plantations granted under SRP now lifeless in the aftermath of the flood.
According to Rabidin Limbong, the Head of the Village of Gampong Takal Pasir in the Subdistrict of Singkil, District of Aceh Singkil, the flood wreaked havoc on thousands of houses, claimed the lives of numerous animals, and decimated hundreds of hectares of agricultural land under the SRP.
Expressing remorse for the villagers’ losses, Limbong highlighted the recurrent nature of the floods, striking seven times consecutively from September to December 2023. He anticipated that those residing next to the river would bear the brunt of the impacts over the next four months.

“Half of SRP should be dead because of the flood. This is fatal and the people got losses,” Limbong said, as Palmoilmagazine.com from AJNN.
SRP has been running for four years and it was divided into two groups within special areas in Village of Takal Pasir that covered 193 hectares. Unfortunately, about 96 hectares of the program should come to an end because of the flood.
Meanwhile, Head of Village of Pea Bumbung, Sarbaini got the same thing. His village was in flood for four months. He asked for the local government to dig up the river around the areas. He thought, the river was too shallow and could be the cause of the flood namely when rain fell down for a night long.
“The river overflowed and flood came. That is why, it needs to dig up the river as prevention to minimize the future risks,” Sarbini said. (T2)
