PALMOILMAGAZINE, ROKAN HULU – The Perkumpulan Pekebun Kelapa Sawit Swadaya Tayo Barokah (PPKSS Tayo Barokah) is making steady progress in enhancing services for independent oil palm farmers, with all its programs focused on improving farmer welfare in a sustainable manner.

According to information from Forum Petani Kelapa Sawit Berkelanjutan Indonesia (Fortasbi), the group—based in Tapung Jaya Village, Tandun District, Rokan Hulu Regency, Riau—has officially begun constructing a dedicated office after four years of preparation. The facility is intended to serve as an integrated service center for its members.

The office is being built on a 25 x 70-meter plot, with a building size of 12 x 12 meters. Construction is targeted for completion within this year, with facilities to be added gradually to support more effective services.

ICS Manager Jumal said the office is expected to function not only as an operational hub but also as a symbol of institutional strength for the farmer group.

“We hope this office will represent both the unity of the organization and the welfare of its farmers,” he said.

The planned facilities include a reception area, management offices, kitchen, bathrooms, and a 7 x 12-meter meeting hall. The hall will serve as a key space for member interaction and for formulating strategies to advance sustainable palm oil development.

“With a proper office, farmers and ICS members will have a place to gather and develop strategic plans to improve their livelihoods,” Jumal added.

Funding for the project has been sourced from internally managed credit schemes. In 2024, the group allocated Rp125 million to purchase the land, followed by Rp200 million in 2025 to initiate construction.

Jumal emphasized that the office is more than just a workplace. “It will also be a space for learning and knowledge sharing, which is essential for farmer development,” he noted.

The office design itself draws inspiration from various references, including social media, aiming to create a functional and comfortable environment for members. The group also expects continued growth in credit revenues to further complete the facility in the future.

Formally established in 2019, PPKSS Tayo Barokah remains committed to leveraging improved harvest yields and revenues from RSPO credit sales to strengthen its organization and enhance services for independent smallholder palm oil farmers. (P2)
