PALMOILMAGAZINE, SAMARINDA – Solidaridad Indonesia recently received the prestigious “Mitra Pembangunan” award from East Kalimantan Province. This accolade recognizes Solidaridad’s active role in developing and empowering independent smallholders in the province since 2019.
Edy Dwi Hartono, Head of Programme Development at Solidaridad Indonesia, accepted the award on behalf of the organization. He expressed pride in the recognition, highlighting Solidaridad’s contribution to advancing palm oil governance in East Kalimantan.
“Through the initiative, Solidaridad would support not only the economy locally through palm oil but also help the province to minimize carbon emission in plantation sectors,” he said, as in the official statement to Palmoilmagazine.com, Friday (19/7/2024).

One success of the organization was in Indonesian Sustainable Palm Oil (ISPO) that Koperasi Unit Desa (KUD) Bumi Subur, a union in Village of Desa Kerta Bumi, Regency of Paser got. The certification itself was handed over by Governor in duty of East Kalimantan, Prof. Akmal Malik, as the acknowledgement to their sustainable agricultural practices.
ISPO is the sustainable standard in national scale that the government mandated for every palm oil planters in Indonesia, including the independent smallholders. “We do appreciate every party that helped and encouraged KUD Bumi Subur until it successfully got ISPO certificate,” Manajer Internal Control System, KUD Bumi Subur, Yadi said.
There have been 80 smallholders as the members the cooperation with their total plantations laying on about 201.17 hectares and certified by ISPO.
In the development process for KUD Bumi Subur Desa Kerta Bumi, Solidaridad was in cooperation with Plantation and Livestock Agency Regency of Paser and Plantation Agency East Kalimantan Province until the external audit. It used the cost sharing. (P2)
