PALMOILMAGAZINE, JAKARTA – The Ministry of Trade is continually assessing potential changes to the export ratio in the domestic market obligation (DMO) for crude palm oil (CPO). Currently, the existing regulations for CPO DMO, which ensure the supply of palm cooking oil in the domestic market, remain unchanged.

Isy Karim, General Director of Internal Trade at the Ministry of Trade, confirmed that there has been no substitution of the export ratio. “There is no change at all regarding the export ratio,” Isy stated, as quoted by Palmoilmagazine.com from Bloomberg Technoz on Tuesday (21/5/2024).

Isy Karim also mentioned that the trade authority is studying possible adjustments to the DMO CPO ratio, considering the fluctuating prices of palm cooking oil materials. This evaluation is crucial to guarantee a stable supply of palm cooking oil domestically despite global price fluctuations.

Additionally, any changes to the highest retail price or the distribution schemes of CPO DMO, such as those involving Minyakita, may lead to a re-adjustment of the export ratio. “The Ministry of Trade is still studying and evaluating the highest retail price for palm cooking oil, considering the dynamic changes in material prices,” Isy said.

Any adjustments would be made if there are changes in the highest retail price or the distribution scheme of CPO DMO. “If it involves Minyakita, the export ratio would be re-adjusted,” Isy emphasized.

The Ministry of Trade aims to ensure that all policies align with market conditions and domestic needs, taking into account the global price dynamics. (T2)
