CPOPC Pushes Palm Oil Collaboration in Latin America, Honduras Takes the Lead

PALMOILMAGAZINE, BOGOTÁ – The Secretariat of the Council of Palm Oil Producing Countries (CPOPC) held an honorary meeting at the Embassy of Honduras in Bogotá, Colombia. The initiative, spearheaded by Honduras, aimed to encourage Latin American countries to strengthen their engagement with the CPOPC forum.

The gathering was attended by Indonesia’s Ambassador to Colombia, H.E. Tatang Budie Utama Razak; Honduras’ Ambassador to Colombia, H.E. Dr. Taryn Arlette Moreno Zelaya; Ecuador’s Ambassador, H.E. Arturo Felix Wong; Costa Rica’s Ambassador, H.E. Maria Cristina Castro Villafranca; as well as diplomatic representatives from Brazil and Mexico.

According to CPOPC (as cited by Palmoilmagazine.com, Tuesday, September 23, 2024), CPOPC Deputy Secretary General Dr. Musdhalifah Machmud emphasized that the palm oil industry in Latin America is increasingly playing a vital role in the global market. She stressed the importance of amplifying the collective voice of producing countries to shape fair and inclusive policies while supporting sustainable development and trade.

Ecuador and Costa Rica’s ambassadors also expressed interest in joining CPOPC as members. To follow up, regular meetings will be organized to discuss membership issues and future collaboration agendas. (P2)
